Maison Fossemagne - WELCOME
Our B&B/Chambres d’Hôtes are located in an ancient Maison de Maître, parts of which date from the 12th century. In the garden there is a lovely swimming pool with sunbeds, cozy seating areas and a nice summer lounge. Guests can enjoy nice atmospheric rooms, dinners under the stars, the garden and the swimming pool
Our rooms retain a lot of charm due to the original features – such as beautiful high windows, high ceilings with centuries-old wooden beams and stone walls.. The rooms are attractively furnished and have their own ensuite bathroom with shower and toilet.
RESIDENCE
A stay at Maison Fossemagne is possible from 2 nights in the main season (June 17 to the end of August), and from 1 night outside.
– Check-in from 15h00, check-out until 10h30

In the garden there is a lovely swimming pool with sunbeds, cozy seating areas and a nice summer lounge. This way our guests can enjoy nice attractive rooms, a nice cool drink and the garden with swimming pool.
SWIMMING POOL
In our (heated) swimming pool of 8 X 4 m. you can always swim or cool down and enjoy the sun.
Our spacious walled garden with swimming pool is 1500 m2 and is not visible from the road. It is wonderfully private with an unobstructed view of the Arboretum behind.
Around the pool are nice loungers, hammocks and plenty of umbrellas for when the sun gets really hot. Because we live near the Atlantic coast and halfway France, we have wonderful summer temperatures here.
SUMMER LOUNGE
Escape the sun to the summer lounge under the large canopy in the garden, where you can enjoy wine, beer, soft drinks and ice creams in our honesty bar. Relax together or with other guests at the large tables or in our comfortable seating area, or find a magazine or game in the closet.
There are many attractions nearby and for cozy cafes and restaurants you don’t have to look long. You will find 9 restaurants and 2 cafes right around the corner, 100 meters away from our B&B. In the area you can choose from beautiful villages, nature, castles and animal parks. In addition, you will find a large lake or the Atlantic Ocean 1 hour away for a swim.

We are a male couple from the Netherlands.
We have been running our B&B/Chambres d’Hôtes with great pleasure since July 2021.
OUR STORY
After years of preparations, all our household goods were ready in a warehouse for emigration to France at the beginning of May 2020. We had just signed the final deed of sale for our house in Melle, Deux-Sévres. However, 4 days before our final departure, Rini was diagnosed with breast cancer. Immediately we had to change our plans and look for a temporary home in the Netherlands. We did not yet have health insurance in France, so we had no choice but to start the treatment of Rini in the Netherlands. This meant that we had to stay in the Netherlands for 10 months for chemotherapy, radiation and surgery, after which there would be follow-up treatments. It turned out to be a tough journey.
During the chemotherapy Rini became very ill, but as soon as he recovered we could go to France for 10 days to do odd jobs and make the house our own. We continued this treatment and job process until the end of April 2021. It was tough…..but we made it.u
Where are we standing right now?
Between all treatments, relocations and DIY jobs, we both obtained a catering permit. This allowed us to register Maison Fossemagne with the municipality of Melle and start with the B&B.
The end result is that we opened with 3 beautiful rooms as of July 1, 2021. We are now a few years further and we have done a lot of renovation and hard work. We now have 5 rooms with ensuite bathrooms. We are proud that despite everything we have come this far and that we can offer five attractive rooms. For the years to come, we will do everything we can to make Maison Fossemagne even more beautiful and professional.
